INNER

PEACE

For this project I chose a combination of Scandinavian and Japanese style, called "japandi", because it looks very clean and harmonious to me.
One of the main materials of my design is wood, so I focused on different wooden objects and shapes, which led me to a spice called star anise. Through gradual versions I reached the design of a textile hanging lamp, which is inspired by this spice.
When designing the space, I worked with a version where it is difficult and costly to find a large plot of land to build a house, plus a space for a garden. So I chose a fictitious narrow plot of 13 x 4 m, walled on all sides except the front. This eliminated the possibility for a conventional garden.
So instead of an outdoor garden, I incorporated an atrium and a small area for greenery grown inside, roofed
with a skylight. This creates the possibility to make some exterior space available even within a small built-up area.
Tyto dva prostory jsou také hlavním zdrojem denního světla.
I designed the interior so that the space was divided into half floors and did not feel cramped. The overall impression of tranquility is underlined by soft neutral colours.
The house is designed for a single person or a couple and my goal was to include all the main parts of a normal residential house in the interior and to incorporate them as comfortably as possible in an unconventionally narrow space.
